A Loner's Revolt (ひとりぼっちの反逆 Hitori botchi no hangyaku?) is the fourth episode of CROSS ANGE Rondo of Angel and Dragon, it first aired in Japan on October 25, 2014.

Synopsis

Ange’s brash attitude makes her some new enemies and causes big troubles in battle [1].

Plot

Act One

After their mission, the squadron collects their bounty, which Ange gets the most. Upset by Ange's arrogance, Hilda and her gang unsuccessfully try to bully her. Meanwhile, Salia reads a book about leadership, and Vivian starts to like Ange. However, it is revealed that Salia wishes to pilot the AW-CBX007 (AG) Villkiss.

Act Two

At Jasmine's mall, Ange buys her new uniform. Jasmine tries to lecture her due to the people disliking her, which Ange ignores. While Ange is eating alone in the canteen, Vivian tries to give her a keychain, but Ange angrily refuses to accept it.

Hilda buys Zola Axberg's quarters and throws her artificial eyeball as part of moving on. She then heads to the hangar and plans something on the Villkiss.

On their sortie, the squadron maintains their formation until Ange rushes forward. Despite Villkiss' malfunction, Ange still transforms it into assault mode. A Schooner lunges towards Ange, and they wrestle on the sea until Ange's cockpit is filled with water, making her unconscious.

Sometime later, Ange wakes up tied up on a bed naked, with an unknown boy sleeping beside her.

Quotes

Jill: What a kill count, and on only her third mission. Not bad, not bad.

Maggy: No one could use that machine well, and then she does it so effortlessly.

Mei: The Villkiss must have accepted Ange.

Salia: So then she's-

Jill: Shall we begin, then? The Libertus. Got a problem with that, Salia?

Salia: She'll die immediately.

Maggy: She is the villain that killed their captain and their beloved new recruits. Of course they hate her.

Salia: I could do it. I'll show you. I can handle the Villkiss better. So why?

Jill: The right person for the job. If something happens to the Villkiss-

Mei: I'll fix it if it comes to that. I'll stake my life on it. That's our duty, after all.

Jill: Focus on your own duty. Got it, Salia? Good girl.

Maggy: Things are going to get busy now, huh?

Jill: Again, don't get cocky. Especially towards the officer.

Jasmine: "Good girl", huh? You're a sly woman, aren't you?

Jill: I'll use whatever I can. Feelings, lives. I'm already in hell.

Jill speaking with Maggy, Mei, Salia, and Jasmine

You worry too much, Dad. Don't worry, I've learned how to do my job, and I'm getting used to the Norma. So long as I keep my eye on them, not a single Norma is going to step out of line.

Emma to her dad

Emma: S-Stop! You, why are you dressed like that?

Ange: It's my uniform.

Emma: I will not allow you to dress in a way that disturbs this base's order. Fix it or buy a new one, immediately. That's an order.

Ange: Ah.

Emma: "Understood, Officer" Don't forget your salutes. Really. Are you not embarrassed to dress so shamelessly?

Ange: Are you embarrassed when a bug sees you naked? Excuse me.

—Emma to Ange

Hilda: You're telling us to stop over that? Maybe a good girl like you could, but not the rest of us ordinary people. What the hell is Command thinking? Her only punishment was being put in that crappy machine. Ah I bet Command likes her, too. I guess then I can understand why. Smooth-talking that Commander... Impressive. Her Majesty the Princess must be good in bed, too.

Salia: That's insubordination.

Hilda: And if it is?

Salia: I won't let you mess with Ange any more.

Hilda: You're defending her, when she looks at you like you're a bug?

Salia: That's an order.

Hilda: Fine Captain.

Hilda arguing with Salia

You promised, Jill, that you'd give me that machine.

—Salia

Notes & Trivia

Various cameos from various mecha anime (mostly by Sunrise) appear in this episode. They are:

  • The Tenkuuken (Sky Sword) from Choudenji Machine Voltes V of 1979, its finishing weapon (referred to in some translations as the "Laser Sword").
  • The wall next to Vivian's hammock has a poster of a super robot similar in appearance to the Gunbuster from Gainax's Top wo Nerae! Gunbuster, it also has the similar pose to RX-78-02 Gundam from the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin promotional image that was published around the same time this episode aired.
